The Filipino tennis star advanced to the quarterfinals after a dominant performance in her rain-delayed match. She will next face Joanna Garland of Chinese Taipei.

🥊 Carlo Paalam secures at least a bronze medal
Carlo Paalam kept the Philippines’ boxing medal hopes alive by defeating China’s Zhang Jiamao via split decision in the men’s 55-kilogram quarterfinals.
With his victory, Paalam advanced to the semifinals and is now assured of at least a bronze medal. He remains the Philippines’ last boxer in contention for a medal after Nesthy Petecio’s quarterfinal exit.
The result adds another medal to the Philippine campaign and keeps Paalam’s Asian Games journey going.
🥊 Nesthy Petecio’s campaign ends in the quarterfinals
Two-time Olympic medalist Nesthy Petecio saw her Asian Games campaign end after losing to China’s Yang Chengyu in the women’s 60-kilogram quarterfinals.
Petecio had entered the quarterfinals after an impressive opening-round victory over Jordan’s Mays Alreem Abukhadijah. Despite her exit, she remains one of the Philippines’ most accomplished boxers and a major figure in the country’s international sports scene.

The Philippines entered September 28 with 13 medals: two golds, two silvers, and nine bronzes, according to GMA News.
Carlos Yulo leads the country’s medal haul with two gold medals in artistic gymnastics, while Filipino athletes across boxing, athletics, esports, beach volleyball, sepak takraw and other sports continue to compete.
