Tricycle Driver Confesses to Killing Missing 19-Year-Old Woman in Alcoy
Tricycle driver Anthony Antig alias “Abat” admitted to the brutal killing of 19-year-old Jeani Pyrll Oropesa Belardo, whose decomposing body was found in a grassy area in Alcoy after being missing for three days.
Police said the suspect, who was allegedly known in the community for sexually harassing women and previous attempted rape incidents, was arrested while allegedly trying to flee and now faces a murder case.
Police have arrested a 42-year-old tricycle driver who confessed to killing 19-year-old Jeani in Alcoy. The victim disappeared last Saturday after hiring the suspect's tricycle for a trip to Dalaguete. Following a three-day search initiated by her foreign live-in partner and aided by a public police appeal, her decomposing body was discovered yesterday morning in a grassy area in Sitio Cangcaya, Barangay Poblacion. Investigators cracked the case after tracing the victim's tablet, which the suspect had allegedly sold. The driver was intercepted while attempting to flee to Dalaguete with his family. Authorities later discovered that the suspect had two prior history logs for attempted rape, both of which failed when bystanders interrupted him.
